Course Descriptions

Courses are offered through TDI, SSI, PADI DSAT and while there is much overlap between the courses there are important differences too.

For simplicity, they all fall into these broad categories below

Before you start- read this stuff here, it's worth a scan over at least

Recreational Decompression Procedures/ Introduction to Technical Diving
550

This course will equip the successful student with the necessary knowledge of decompression theory, algorithms, software and practices to effectively plan recreational level decompression dives.  Get trained to plan it correctly and, above all, SAFELY.

EXPANDED RECREATIONAL DIVING
FOUNDATIONS OF TECHNICAL DIVING
690

Foundations Course.     Dives can be done in mostly regular scuba gear if you wish.  The course is designed to produce divers who can SAFELY and COMPETENTLY execute decompression dives to 130'.  Students have extraordinary flexibility over their equipment choices which means you can pretty much use the recreational gear you already own.  Decompression gas will be 50% O2 max.

The course is accessible to Advanced Open Water divers (or equivalent).
- Minimum age: 18 years old

Technical Competence
550

Builds upon the skills and competencies developed in Foundations and immerses the diver in technical diving drills, skills and procedures.  Dives must be done in technical equipment, either doubles or sidemount and safely takes the diver deeper and using up to 100% oxygen for decompression.

The course is accessible to RESCUE divers (or equivalent) plus Foundations (or equivalent)
- Minimum age: 18 years old

Technical Mastery
690

Takes the technical diver to deeper depths and safely adds more complex dive planning and decompression schedules including accelerated, 2 stage decompression.  Successful students will be certified to fully plan and safely conduct gas-switch decompression dives and accelerated decompression dives using air, enriched air and oxygen to a depth of 50 metres/165 feet.   PHEW!

The course is accessible to RESCUE divers (or equivalent) plus Technical Competence (or equivalent)
- Minimum age: 18 years old

Tec Combination Packages- the Zero to Hero Package
1500

Combine the above all into one package do the courses over several weeks to suit your timetable, or do them all in ONE week (TecWeek),
That's GREAT!  How do I sign up?  Just email me.

Deeper into Diving - Beyond Blue!
1200

For divers wishing to explore further, dive deeper or dive more conservatively, trimix is the gas of choice.    Divers will expand upon the solid techniques and accomplishments of Technical Mastery to explore the further reaches of the watery domain.   The course is exacting and demanding yet rewarding in a way that few will be lucky enough to experience.

Tec Trimix (hypoxic TMx)
1200
no depth limit, no mix limit certification

Successful completion of this course marks the pinnacle of achievement for any diver and will provide the successful student with a certification that has no stated limits.  The Tec Trimix diver course takes you to the edges of technical diving opening doors to dive sites that few, if any, will ever have seen.  To access this uppermost level of certification requires significant dedication and commitment to developing the very highest levels of skills, knowledge and practices.

- Normoxic Trimix or equivalent is a prerequisite.  Students not previously trained with me are advised to undergo a dive evaluation prior to the course.

Anything else to know?

The Courses are booked through PAUL- email me with any questions.

Much of your regular scuba will likely be perfectly adequate for Foundations.  Where it is not, you will have access to plenty of gear- do not let equipment be your show stopper.

Cancellations for a full refund are accepted no later than 60 days before training or travel commences.  After this time full refunds will only be issued if the course instructor is unavailable to proceed with the agreed schedule.  Cancellations or rescheduling after this time carries a $200 non-refundable deposit for all courses; included in the course fee.

For the courses, divers are advised to obtain insurance to cover unforeseeable and foreseeable complications including recompression treatment, accidents, disease and infections.  Insurance is required for all Trimix courses.

Attempting to perform technical diving without proper training and equipment may result in serious injury or death.

Train Right!

Please Note:  All dives must be completed to the Instructor’s satisfaction. The Instructor reserves the right to require further training and can refuse to issue a certification card if the student's performance does not meet the course standards.
